H2O International Mapping Festival – 2nd Edition “Source” invites artists, animators, audiovisual creators, and new media practitioners from around the world to submit original site-specific mapping works.
About the Festival
H2O International Mapping Festival – 2nd Edition “Source” is a two-day audiovisual event taking place in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on 28–29 August 2026.
The festival presents site-specific video mapping works created for the façade of the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum. This year’s theme, “Source”, invites reflections on water, memory, light, architecture, cultural heritage, and the relationship between people, nature, and the city.
As an additional attraction, the opening day of the festival will feature a curator-led tour of the exhibition Leonard Pietraszak: A Master of Many Roles, taking place on 28 August 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s Main Building at 4 Gdańska Street. The tour will be followed by the first presentation of the festival’s accompanying mappings and projections.
About us
H2O International Mapping Festival is created by artists and curators Katarzyna Rumińska-Rutkowska and Łukasz Wiese.
The festival is organized by the Pischinger Foundation in collaboration with Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology and the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz.
Our aim is to create a space for site-specific video mapping, audiovisual art, animation, and new media, connecting light, architecture, and the urban landscape.

About organizers and co-organizers
H2O Festival is a projection mapping festival based in Bydgoszcz, founded in 2025 by Katarzyna Rumińska and Łukasz Wiese. The project combines art, new technologies, and architecture, with water as its central theme—understood both as an element and as a symbol of flow, transformation, and urban identity.
The festival’s first installment, H2O Prologue, was presented on 17 May 2025 during the European Night of Museums. The projection mappings were displayed on the façade of the historic Granaries on the Brda River, part of the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz. The next installment, H2O Current, took place on 13 and 14 June 2025 at the European Money Centre and accompanied the Bydgoszcz Water Festival “Ster na Bydgoszcz”.
In 2026, the festival returns with its second edition, entitled H2O Source, organised in cooperation with the Pischinger Foundation and the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz.

What file should I submit?
Please submit a permanent link to your final mapping file in MP4 format, prepared according to the projection mask provided by the Organizers. The file should include both image and sound.
The preferred duration of the work is approximately 60 seconds. The maximum duration is 90 seconds.
Please use a permanent file-sharing link, for example Google Drive or Dropbox. Do not use WeTransfer, as WeTransfer links expire after a few days and your work must remain available during the jury review process.
Who can take part in the open call?
The open call is open to adults from Poland and abroad — individual artists, artistic teams, and collectives. Participation in the open call is free of charge.
What kind of work should be submitted?
Participants should submit a completed, original site-specific mapping work prepared especially for the façade of the District Museum in Bydgoszcz at 4 Gdańska Street. The work should be prepared according to the projection mask provided by the Organizers, in MP4 format, with both image and sound.
What is the submission deadline?
Submissions are open from 12 July to 20 August 2026, until 23:59, via the online form. The results of the open call will be announced on 22 August 2026.
