The H2O Mapping Festival was created by artists and curators Katarzyna Rumińska-Rutkowska and Łukasz Wiese. All editions are organised in cooperation with the Leon Wyczółkowski District Museum in Bydgoszcz.

The project began with the pilot “Prologue” edition (edition zero), presented in May 2025 at the MOB Granaries under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski. The first edition, “Current”, took place in June 2025 at the MOB European Money Centre.

In 2026, H2O became an international competition. Its second edition, “Source”, is the festival’s first international edition and will be presented at the museum’s venue on Gdańska Street in cooperation with the Pischinger Foundation. The 2026 edition is co-financed by the City of Bydgoszcz and held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski.
